Interview Guru ("we", "us", or "our") operates interviewguru.co. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using Interview Guru, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account information: Your email address and password when you sign up.
• Resume content: The text extracted from resumes you upload. This is stored to enable kit generation and to auto-build your Career Profile.
• Career Profile: Structured career data — your roles, bullets, skills, certifications, education, and any additional details you add (bio, projects, contact info). Built either from an uploaded resume or entered directly. This is used as the canonical source for kit generation so your documents stay consistent across applications.
• Job information: Job titles, company names, job descriptions, and URLs you provide when generating a kit.
• Generated documents: Optimized resumes, cover letters, interview questions, thank you letters, and LinkedIn profile recommendations created by our AI.
• Practice recordings: If you use interview practice mode, your spoken answers are transcribed locally in your browser for AI coaching feedback. Audio is not uploaded to our servers.
• Support messages: Content you submit through our contact form.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and kit generation counts (used for plan enforcement and product improvement).
• Payment data: Billing is handled by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers. We receive subscription status and plan information from Stripe.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To generate and store your interview kits
• To enforce plan limits (kit counts, feature access)
• To process payments and manage your subscription via Stripe
• To send transactional emails (support confirmations, account notices) via Resend
• To respond to support requests
• To improve the product based on aggregate usage patterns

We do not sell your personal information or resume data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. AI Processing

Your Career Profile (or resume text if the profile hasn't been built yet) and job posting content are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate your interview documents. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models by default. Your data is transmitted securely over HTTPS. We do not use your content to train any AI models.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in Supabase, a secure cloud database provider. We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, and row-level security policies that ensure you can only access your own data. While we take security seriously, no system is completely secure — please use a strong, unique password.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

• Supabase — database and authentication (supabase.com/privacy)
• Stripe — payment processing (stripe.com/privacy)
• Anthropic — AI document generation (anthropic.com/privacy)
• Resend — transactional email (resend.com/legal/privacy-policy)
• Vercel — hosting and infrastructure (vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy)

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data and generated documents for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and interview kits within 30 days. Some data may be retained longer if required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as transaction records).

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent at any time by canceling your subscription and deleting your account

8. Cookies

We use session cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. No third-party advertising networks have access to your session.

9. Children's Privacy

Interview Guru is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice on the site. Continued use of Interview Guru after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
